British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community shared sympathy for the fighter in the following the heartbreaking incident.
