Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.
The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Player's Recent Legal Issues
The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
