Football Expert Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Forecasts
Arsenal's 10-game victorious run came to an end by the Black Cats before the global break, but can the Premier League leaders bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.
For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.
The singer's new record, the new release, is out on Friday.
Football and Parenting Life
Murs is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a player.
"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."
Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.
"I won't push football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday football team," he said.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our side for two or three years and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their offense is now stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. Burnley are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
The singer's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.
West Ham's only on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno was previously Forest manager.
So, what exactly do I predict here - can the Hammers extending their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?
I will choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their last four matches.
My son told me to get Bees striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.
The forward will likely score again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.
They have not had great success on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I feel the home manager's side pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's prediction: This could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality proves to be quite tight. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.
They have have lots of talent in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.
As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.
Their display in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed any other team disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing to do to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.
However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.
Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the sole team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be absolutely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I know the visitors are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a poor streak... but they have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard one to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
