A man from Australia that leaped past a barrier and reached for celebrity Ariana Grande has been expelled and barred from Singapore.

The man, 26, was handed a penalty to more than a week in jail for disrupting public order and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," Singaporean immigration authorities told local media.

The man shoved beyond security and charged at the actress and singer, who was attending the Asian premier for the musical adaptation on November 13. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.

He has a background of causing disturbances at events and celebrity events, including leaping onto the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year.

The occurrence provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with many saying he of re-traumatising Grande.

The celebrity has discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a explosive incident at her concert in Manchester in spring of 2017 killed 22 individuals and injured hundreds.

Throughout the court proceedings, the judge was informed he had attempted to intrude on the red carpet event multiple times, according to Singaporean media.

He then made a another effort to cross the barriers. Event security intercepted him and held him in place.

Wen later posted recordings expressing gratitude to the star for permitting his access and said he was "free."

Law enforcement arrested him the next day and brought charges against him with causing a disturbance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.

The Court Judge Christopher Goh was referenced by Channel News Asia as saying that Wen was "attention seeking", adding that he was mistaken to think he would not suffer any consequences.

Grande has not addressed the incident.

The co-star spoke about the incident to NBC, remarking that she "simply desired to ensure my friend was safe."

"I'm sure he didn't intend us harm, but you cannot be certain with such situations, and I wanted to make sure that she was fine. That was my initial reaction," she stated.
